Today we're making a classic Southern Do Nothing Cake from an old recipe found in my mama's recipe box. This vintage cake recipe dates back decades and is made completely from scratch with crushed pineapple, pecans, and a rich butter topping.

🍍 Do Nothing Cake
Cake Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 (20-ounce) can crushed pineapple, undrained
2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon baking soda
Instructions
Combine all cake ingredients in a large bowl.
Mix by hand. Do not use an electric mixer.
Pour into a greased 9" x 12" baking pan.
Bake at 350°F for 30-35 minutes.
Prepare topping while cake bakes.
Spread topping over the warm cake.
Topping Ingredients
1 (5-ounce) can evaporated milk
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 cup sugar
1½ cups coconut
1 cup chopped pecans
Topping Instructions
Combine evaporated milk, butter, and sugar in a saucepan.
Bring to a boil and boil for 5 minutes.
Stir in coconut and pecans.
Spread over warm cake.
