The push to redraw Maryland's congressional maps cleared its first hurdle. Both chambers of the Maryland General Assembly on Tuesday passed a constitutional amendment referendum bill on congressional redistricting. The Maryland House of Delegates voted 96-38 to pass House Bill 2100, sending it to the Senate, which voted 32-13 to approve the bill late Tuesday afternoon, sending it to the governor. The redistricting bill is a referendum question that voters would decide in the November election. The constitutional amendment would separate standards of how General Assembly districts are drawn from how future congressional districts "can" be drawn.
