While the homicide case of a Monkton mother could end this week, her family will still be seeking closure. Kimberly Lechner was killed on Sept. 29, 2025. Defense attorney Brian Thompson said Lechner's husband, Anthony Lechner, plans to enter pleas at a court hearing on Wednesday — guilty and "not criminally responsible" — as part of a two-part plea hearing per Maryland's version of the insanity defense. Kimberly Lechner's family members are not happy, saying they know who killed her but will never know why without having access to the "not criminally responsible" report. But the state, the judge and the defense said state law will not allow it.
